Those old ads are funny! They prove that science is constantly changing and what's good for you today may be bad tomorrow! I have my grandma's old cookbook that says how great white bread is for you over whole wheat. Go figure!

I love old ads, what a great post! I think I actually remember those cinnamon-swirly things, not that my mother got them but somehow they registered with me! I collect old cookbooks and blog about them (just starting too) - the Lileks book you mention is fantastic, as is his website.

Mmmm bacon and peanut butter. Heck let's deep fry that sucker too!

These remind me of those drink lots of alcohol and smoke lots while you are at it posters.

My biggest pet peeve of the past and 99% of my eating issue was my dad and his 'clean plate club' when he used to make me eat everything on my plate! No wonder I can't ever tell if I am full! I never learned to listen to my hunger cues I just trained myself to eat everything on my plate!

Love the blog!
