Sweet Baboo

WELL THIS MORNING... STEVE WAS AT THE PIGGLY WIGGLY WAREHOUSE DROPPING OFF SAMPLES... AS HE PULLED UP TO THE GUARD GATE HE NOTICED THIS:

Only she was in a patch of grass by the side of the driveway shivering... and getting hand outs from the truck drivers throwing her food.. ( she smells like bacon right now lol) He asked the guard if she belonged to anyone and he said she had been there for a couple of days.. She was inches from the drive with HUGE 18 wheelers coming in and out of the lot... the guard asked if Steve wanted her and Steve said keep an eye on her when he was finished with his meeting he would be back.. he came back .. picked her up.. and brought her home.. She went to the vet this afternoon and surprisingly she is in good shape.. just a few worms.. no fleas or anything.. she is part chow and part lab.. and really sweet.. Cookie and Baz did not mind her much... I think because she has some size to her .. she is 27 pounds right now and 4.5 months old... She took to Bazzies crate right away ... Baz was not to thrilled with this.. but hey glad she likes it .. we had to bribe her out of it.. She likes the dogs and she follows them outside.. and interacts somewhat with them... I sat on the floor with her tonight and she was very playful... Since she is not house trained we are keeping her in the garage in Baz's crate.. we keep both Cookies and Bazzies crates in the garage its fairly warm down there.. and this pup did not mind it... Steve's daughter is going to take her to school with her.. on Sunday .. she has a house.. and since the pup seems to like the crate so much we think she will be easily trained to it... She has no clue about doing her business outside . we thought by following Cookie and Baz she would get the idea.. but hey .. this is all knew so its going to take time.. She was so cute earlier jumping all over me and playing and she LOVEs having her belly rubbed... so thats the new news for tonight.. OHHH names..
I think Sara wants to name her Lucy... we like Bear.. or Honey or Sugar Bear .. but I called her Sweet Baboo.. she just looks like a Baboo to me ...
Well it is sleepy time now...
I am really proud of Steve for rescuing that little miss. She probably would have died tonight .. its in the single digits and teens here... plus the wind chill does not help much... right now.. she is cozy on a rug with a bowl of fresh water .. in a crate... very content..
Wish me well
Wish you well too

That's wonderful. We ended up rescuing a dog on our moving day. The neighbors had put it out, but when we had asked what happened to their dog, they said a relative had it. On the day we were to move, the dog was in our front yard, barely moving, and every one of it's ribs visible. We called the SPCA, who said considering the dog's condition that they'd probably put it to sleep, so we wrapped the dog up in a blanket and put him in the back seat with the kids, stopping every hour to spoon some smashed dog food and warm water into him. It was a long haul, but he made it. We had to live in a hotel for two weeks because the apartments wouldn't allow us to move in with him, but when we finally did take him to be adopted, he was fit, healthy and beautiful. He was adopted the first day he became available.

I don't understand people who don't take care of their pets. Having a pet means bringing another life into the family, and it means making a committment to another living thing that you will provide a safe, healthy home.

name her trucker tee hee, she's so cute. I was in the market in Thailand and wanted to take all the puppies home with me.

It sure is great that he found her it was pretty cold in B'ham this morning. I had a black lab/Chow mix growing up. My dad got her for my 13th birthday and her name was Bear. She was the sweetest dog! I had her for almost 13 years.

Bless you both for bringing her home and Baz and Cookie for tolerating sweet Baboo. I really like the name Lucy and my Sadie was nearly named Lucy. The way she went right into the crate it almost sounds like she might have been crate trained. Mine love their crates, its their safe spot, their den. I'm looking forward to hearing more tales of this sweet dog. Thank you again to Steve for saving her.

Awww mega well done on rescuing here…. I am sure she’ll love you all forever! How can anyone just dump a dog at the side of the road, hell if they want to get rid of a poor animal at least hand it into a shelter.. bless her!

I would love another dog with Alfie but he’s not good with other dogs so it’s kinda out of the question for me…
